This landscaping proposal for a residential rooftop is designed to extend the living spaces of the dwelling whilst providing views of the surrounding landscape and privacy through shaded canopies that block overlooking from the surrounding residential towers.
Lightweight pumice stones are used as the default ground cover in order to reduce the load demand of extensive soil coverage whilst planters are made from polystyrene blockwork and filled with styrofoam pellets to further reduce load.
The space is arranged as three separate areas, each defined by canopy cover and designed with a different user in mind; the individual, a young couple and the whole family. This ensures around the clock functionalty for the roof terrace; in effect adding almost a third to the funtional area of the apartment.
